A 'Graphic Adventure' game.

This game originally came on five 5 1/4" floppy disks. This is probably it's biggest problem but I'll come to that later on. The game opens with a nice animated intro featuring a squadron of Valkyrie fighters taking on the Zentreadi enemy. The game itself also features a huge story sequence that takes you through all the events that lead to SDF Macross leaving earth all of which features great sound effects and music.

The actual playable part of the game is similar to Bubblegum Crash! You play Hikaru and you choose all of your actions from a long list of Japanese words. The results of your actions are displayed in the screen in the middle.

Now it might have been worth muddling through the game if it weren't for the dreaded disk swapping. Different scenes are on different disks so you might select to go into the UNSPACY offices and that would be fine but if you wanted to then go from there to another location you would have to insert disc three. Then when you come out, insert disc two again. Very annoying!

All in all not a bad looking game but really not worth playing unless you are an extremely diehard Macross fan!

Note: This game can be used in conjunction with the ealier PC-98 release "Remember Me" to unlock extra missions. This game was also re-released in a boxset with the Family Soft PC-98 game "Macross Love Stories". In this set the two games have updated user interfaces.
