Super Battle

An enjoyable if run-of-the-mill 'Street Fighter 2' clone. For one or two players.

Strangely smaller scale than the average Super Famicom DBZ fighter. You have a choice of only ten characters and there's not split-screening here either so both players are forced to be on the same level.

As for the rest of it, it's pretty much what you'd come to expect but with better graphics than the SFC was churning out in 1994. The animation is fast and fluid, the characters and backgrounds are well detailed. There are plenty of buttons to bash too and I found pulling off the minor special moves a lot easier than in the console games of the time.

I'm sorry to say that I found Super Battle 2 quite difficult even when set on normal. I suppose it's main purpose is to take the player's money!

A good alternative the the Super Famicom games.

Note: Interestingly this machine can be set to English language. This is probably down to the popularity of Street Fighter 2 in USA and UK. I wonder if it ever turned up in arcades in the west? Let me know if you've ever spotted one!
