Captain Tsubasa

Part V: Boy's Soccer Team

Tecmo's last Super Famicom entry and their first attempt at something new! A mixture of standard footie-sim and cinematic action!

A basic football game with the field scrolling horizontally. The action's fluidity is broken up with lots of unnecassary options such as if one of the opposition's players confonts you rather than you hitting a button to pass a menu appears at the bottom of the screen and you have to select your next move.

An unusual and uncomfortable mix of arcade and cinematic action that comes off juddery and annoying. It's good to see them trying to change the formula but Tecmo should have stuck to the usual.
