The second of the two Famicom Captain Tsubasa games.
Working on the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' principle of many an anime game (Dragonball Z, Ranma) this second game uses much the same game engine as the first and pretty much all the sequels. You start by controlling the movements of your player by navigating him around the map in the bottom left corner of the screen. You can hit the B button at any time to choose what to do with the ball (pass, shoot etc).
But if you run into the oppostion you are given the choices of what to do next (lob the ball up field, pass etc). All your choices are played out in a continuous animation in the top part of the screen. While all this happens the resident commentator keeps you up-to-date with all the action (in Japanese text of course) and the same tune plays in the background over and over.
I don't really like football that much but even I enjoyed playing this game. It's fun and quite exciting. Even though it's in Japanese it's really straight forward to play. |
